I read this book, at 14, and it made a big impression on me. I had never imagined that not only animals, but rocks and trees, and the wind, had feelings, and thoughts. I had never heard anyone ever talk about them like they mattered as much as humans, that we could talk to them. That they talked to us, and we had something to learn from them.

I loved the book. I loved the concepts. The essence of life before urbanization, and colonization, and busy roads, and cars and buildings, was peace, quiet, sun warmed land, sun on faces, the smell of grass and flowers, and rivers. I hold onto these images and the faint breeze of remembrance of these times. I treasure being touched by their impression.
