Books that inspire the human spirit.
1. CRASHING THROUGH
ROBERT KURSON
This book is written by Robert Kurson, and it is an amazing story by the author about becoming blind at an early age, going through life with amazing accomplishments including para-olympic skiing, and working for the CIA. Later in life he was selected to have an operation to restore his site. In this book, Robert relates his really unexpected results of the return of his sight.
2. EXTREME OWNERSHIP
JOCKO WILLINK and LEIF BABIN
I will never watch or read war stories because I am so terrified by war. The reason I found this book to be an amazing, inspiring human spirit story is because the author Jocko Willink narrates his journey in the middle east with lessons in leadership. This leadership saves lives. It is inspirational that he braves the worst of the worst parts of the war world and saves lives, leads men into and out of the most unsafe environments imaginable and all the while describes the self-discipline and commitment needed to complete his missions successfully.
3. SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS: My journey to an open heart.
DEBORAH SANTANA
The rhythm and melody of Deborah’s writing stuck me as beautiful. I enjoyed her story of being married to Carlos Santana. The love, the tears, the sadness, are all related with poetry and a soft gentleness.
